O1. COMPARATIVE REPORT on The Level of Internet Addiction of Secondary School Students in Partner’s Countries

Social research will be carried out with the use of scientific and special designed questionnaires. The questionnaire will be developed in three different forms: for students, o for teachers and for parents. The questionnaire for students will be based on the already developed and internationally recognized relevant questionnaires, such as The Internet Addiction Test (IAT) by Dr.Kimberly Young from the Center for Internet Addiction, which is one of the most utilized diagnostic instruments for Internet addiction. In that way it will be possible to asses the six factors (implicit in IAT questionnaires) that tap the crucial aspects of the Internet Addiction Disorder and have been named as follows: (1) compromised social quality of life; (2) compromised individual quality of life; (3) compensatory usage of the Internet; (4) compromised academic/working careers; (5) compromised time control; and (6) excitatory usage of the Internet. For teachers and parents/guardians we will develop and administrate two new and innovative types of questionnaires according to the requirements and needs of our proposed project.

The final comparative report will contain the findings from the statistical analysis of questionnaires of social research in the form of graphs, statistical tables and explanatory drawings. This comparative report will assist the partnership to understand the extent and the percentage (on the total) of internet addiction disorder (IAD) of students in secondary education so to advance to the development of the content of educational and information materials to be used in the training of teachers and in informing of students and parents/ guardians about the problem. The methodology to be developed and proposed by the present project is going to be based on the findings of social research and on the comparative report and on its remarks and suggestions. The report will be uploaded on the official website and on the special e-platform of the project and will be available to all interested parties in all partners’ languages and in English.
